Type Techinal exam

Postby Shumway » Thu May 27, 2010 11:34 pm

Just heard that DCA requires even PPL holders to pass Type Technical exam before PPL can be issued, on top of the usual papers and this is required only for your first type (the type you train in for your PPL).
Subsequently once you have your PPL, to get another type is just the usual few hours flying conversion training, not type technical exam required.

What kind of questions do they ask in Type Techical exam? Plus I checked it's 1 1/2 hours exam!

Worst part is, there is no circular about this!

Of course u need to pass the type tech exam for every type of aircraft u are gonna fly. It's been like this all along. However, some flying schools conduct the exam on their own (in-house).

Expect questions such as limitations, systems, speeds, spec, the usual stuff. Don't worry about the time, you will be out from the exam hall long before that.

As far as I know, for PPL previously there was no requirement for Type Tech exam, only CPL.
