All about Singapore Airlines

Postby wilson_hung » Mon Mar 29, 2010 3:48 am

I am Malaysian. I had SPM certificate and fulfilled the requirement of the appointment for cadet pilot of SIA. I currently studying in Singapore Polytechnic and taking a diploma. Is SIA prefers a degree holder although the requirement stated, A-level, polytechnic diploma or degree?http://www.singaporeair.com/saa/en_UK/content/company_info/careers/pilot_appointments/pilot.jsp

Besides, is there only one attempt for the interview in SIA? I am very concern about this that is why i do not want to waste my opportunity. Is there any SIA staffs or pilots here?

Thank you.

oh really? thanks for clearing that then. :))

a quickie thou, does SIA usually take in freshies (CPL + fATPL) off from FAs like our airlines do?

*from the website*
TRAINING
Successful candidates will spend 15 to 17 months on training to acquire an Airline Transport Pilot’s License (ATPL) with Instrument Rating (IR) at Pilot Training Schools in Singapore and overseas. Full board and lodging will be provided. Upon obtaining the flying license, you will undergo further training for 1 to 2 years to become a First Officer.
*end*

does this also apply for privately funded pilots(in italic) or just their own cadets?
dont think i've come across anything on that topic yet, correct if i'm wrong thou. thanks in advance.

I think that applies only to successful applicant of their cadetship program. And i don't think any privately funded pilot would wana join their cadet program and do the course over again from the beginning. The "Oversea Pilot Training School" they are mentioning is in Perth Australia. And there is only one flying schook in spore which do not offer flight training, only ground school.

hmm ic ic,

well i thought the 1 to 2 year period would be 2nd officer years... meaning u're already in the airlines with fATPL... well in another sentence, minimum direct entry..

Dear OscarWilde,

This is off topic but may I know why do you always write 'fATPL' instead of 'ATPL'?......... ;)

Cheers
