Generally, worldwide standards in aviation are pretty much the same whatever you fly under the FAA/JAA/ICAO/...rules

Is your flight school at the standards required by the Industry, do they teach you what you need (and what you have )to know?

easy, check on this website and download the practical test standard (PTS).
can you do what is printed in these PTS?

if not, you should ask your chief flight instructor and ask him why ?

and here some free books you can download.

My school doesn't teach to the level described in the FAA standards. I doubt other Malaysian clubs and schools teach to that standard either. Heck, some local instructors might not be able to perform to the FAA standards either! Unfortunately in Malaysia, excellence isn't the priority for many people.

I met a few instructors in Malaysia who are trained in U.S. I heard that Malaysian students are pleased with them.

Comparaing between foreign flying instructors and the local ones is a big difference.

Instructors from overseas often have good experience. Squeeze the juice of out them if possible. :p
