You definitely can become a pilot and pass the medical examination.. But why not quit smoking since being a pilot has been your childhood dream?? If you quit.. It will be a Win Win situation for you.. Think about that.. :neutral:

It will become a problem later in life when u get older. For the class 1 medical, you'll need to do a spirometer test to check your lung capacity. Smokers will be at a disadvantage for this test due to damaged alveoli in their lungs caused by smoking.

If you are an average smoker, not much a problem to obtain and mantain your Class 1 medical ....... ;)

If you are a non-smoker, don't start smoking ....... ::D:

Annual medical check up is just to ensure that you are fit for duty and to satisfy regulatory requirement but not to make you an astronaut .......... :neutral:

basically, as u smoke your lungs gets damaged and also tared-up/blocked/coagulated thus u lose stamina while this happens, the walls of ur lungs are also deteriorating.. If you're young and u do sports, yes i might not feel much difference because ur heart's strength makes up for the lung's inefficiency but as you get older, the inevitable happens and thats ur heart getting weaker. When that happens, ur lungs comes into play and by that time, ur lungs would have been so badly damaged, you know what the answer is.. hahaha

well atleast thats what i think from my PoV. Not so sure if its all 100% fact but its somewhere amongst the lines.

SAY "TAK NAK" TO SMOKING!

btw, people smoke in cold countries to keep themselves warm.. smoking in Msia.. is overkill.. i sweat alot hahaha
