Just reached home after spending the whole day at LIMA 09. The exhibitions inside MIEC were dominated mostly by various agencies of M'sian govt and companies (about 50%) and the rest by foreign participants. The sad thing is only about 75% of the floor areas were occupied.
Aircraft Static display - With limited numbers of foreign participants, it looks like a 'Malaysian Air Carnival' rather than an airshow. The RMAF dominated the air display with SU30MKM as the star of the show. RAAF's F111 and RSAF's F-16 + Apache involvement are very much appreciated in an otherwise just an open day event for Malaysian's enforcement agencies.
Kudos to pilots and crew involved.
I have been to many airshows around the world and I think Malaysian pilots are equally good if no better than foreigners if given the right training and aircraft. Giro, Mantan, PMad and Fab (SU30MKM crew) are the best example. Patricia, Arrow and others from MiG29N are also among the stars.
I managed to spend some time with all display pilots inclusive the teams from abroad. They are very friendly and accomodative. I am not interested in maritime show. Therefore, I never step my foot at Porto Malai.
Overall - The organiser could have done better if they want to see LIMA to be successful in the future. Otherwise, it is just another similar DSA event at PWTC ...........
To an ordinary person like me, I just want enjoy the show and hopefully there won't be any unwanted event happened.
