You'll find that licenses issued by most ICAO countries are valid internationally. But that does not necessarily mean you have the right to work in other countries, especially for low timers. Expat pilots are usually those who bring their vast skills and experience to another country in need of such experience, and they're usually Captains or those in a check and training capacity to improve the skills of the locals.
Newbie CPL/IRs will very rarely be in such a position. So, don't think doing the JAA syllabus is going to give you an advantage to work in other countries. You still end up with a Malaysian issued CPL/IR and which, for the low time newbie,is only good for gaining employment in Malaysia.
