About 200k perhaps? 170 hours (let's say DCA credited 30 hours) + ground school fees + others. Price varies with different flying academies.

As for the total number of aircraft, I think it's only 2 C172 & 2 Eagle 150. The R44 chopper is not permanently there, but I think it's available on request.
I have compared the pricing with other clubs within Selangor, I think RSFC is the cheapest in terms of rental - C172 is RM480, E150 is RM580 per hour, without instructor.

However... there is always a however - Joining fee is quite high, I think around RM2000 or so, plus monthly RM60! That's quite a lot just to remain a member...

Any other thoughts about this club or other clubs?

Just saw this, Eagle more expensive than the Cessna? I'd love to erase my sunburns with flying the Cessna :><.:

Hi there,
recently i'd called Royal Selangor Flying Club for latest information.
1st, you have to joinning the club first, RM 4065
2nd, pay for Ground Course, cost around RM 3800
and also you have to pay for David Clark headset, which has increse the cost, RM 1950...and other expenses, flying logbook, map and lot of stuffs.
Plus, they only accept Cash or Cheque.
Regarding Loan, you have to pay for membership fee and Ground Course, then they only will provides the documents for you to apply the loan.

After compared with other flying clun in Kuala Lumpur, www.fras.com.my located in Kelana Jaya, the price more reasonable, which you can pay by installment.
On this moment, i still thinking whether i go for flying club to pursue to being a pilot PPL holder.

I encourage people to get their PPL at flying club first!

This way, save money, cost effective. A smoother process to CPL route enrolled in AFTO.

In my opinion, if you take PPL first, then later continue with CPL stuff, I think end of the day you spend even more $$$.
The only "advantage" is maybe you have more time in your hand to save up the $$$, but in the long run, more $$$ is spent.

This is because for the cost of obtaining the PPL you have to pay club membership etc etc, then the hours you obtained from PPL will not be 100% credited when you continue doing CPL. So $$$ lost in "recognised" PPL hours and also cost of joining the flying club.

My 2 cents...

Agreed Totally, but not a good option these days, Why??, well the DAMN AFTO's are looking to make Money, The more cost cutting you are, the less interested they are in you. :^^:

Cheers..

What i dont understand is - what purpose to pay club membership? what is the benefit? Because i had compared with other flying clubs, the membership are different!
First of all, you have to pay Membership fee + Ground School in advance.
I totally dont have idea how to pay in one shot even i am working adult.

I heard my friend says, the flying hour we obtain will be credit to CPL, isn't it?
I already confused...
Anyone please lead the direction?

getting PPL from flying club first before continue CPL/IR in flying academy is not a good way to go with.

Lets do some mathematic here...

PPL from flying club cost around RM38,000
with your PPL you come to flying academy DCA only allows to credit 30hours...
to get your 30hours in flying academy is just cost around RM24,000
RM38,000 - RM24,000 = RM14,000
So, you can save up to RM14,000 by just coming in to flying academy directly.
RM14,000 is not a small amount.

But for those who can't afford to join flying academy now flying club is still the best choice.
Get PPL from club... slowly accumulate hours to 150 PIC then get your AFI rating from club after that by flying with students from club you can gain your hours for free and maybe can get some salary from students until you get 500 PIC then apply your CPL from DCA. After that fork out some money again to do ATPL papers and Multi Engine/IR in flying academy. Then finish your CPL/IR+F-ATPL course. It might be a long long way. But still the best way for those who cant afford now.
"Learn from mistake" is totally not suitable for a pilot. You might be don't have chance to fly again after you did a mistake. You can only learn from people's mistake.

Agreed, have heard people have succeeded in that route, but requires patience, persistence & optimisim etc etc etc

Another $$$ point to remember if you take this route:
- To clock 150hrs PIC before being eligible to sit for AFI course
- Cost of AFI course

So $$$ is involved in this route, but definitely not as much as complete CPL/ATPL route
