EASA Requirement...

Postby aranny2001 » Tue Apr 20, 2010 11:33 pm

Currently i'm working in MAS which is approved part 145 maintenance organization... I wanna start to do my EASA for CAT B1.1.. i'm was wondering:

can i start to collect my work schedule first before i went to register to sit for my EASA written exam?

Do i need to register first in order to collect my EASA work schedule?

how long of work schedule does it require to collect? (since i'm not graduate from part 147 approved training school)

Thanks alot guys!

Yes you can start.
No need to register. It is not a pre-requisite.
You have 5 years to complete your B1.1 module examinations. More than sufficient to collect you work schedules..
Good luck! :^^:

Torx, i'm wondering do EASA required how many years of work schedule do i need to collect?

if i completed my B1.1 less than 5 years, does it meant that i can get my EASA earlier?

thx

aranny,
Yes. OJT is mandatory and depends whether you do it with Part 145 Maintenance Organisation or not.
As long as you comply with the OJT/Work Schedule requirements, you can get it earlier.. 2 years minimum, four years is more likely.. :^^:

Why do EASA? Do you plan to work outside M'sia?
Or is it because after getting B1.1 you wish to convert to DCA LWTR?
Remeber, B1.1 = DCA A&C LWTR, not A&C&E which most people think.

Pros of doing EASA B1.1 compared to DCA A&C = Possibly finish faster due to sometimes slow processing by DCA, and no oral!

Cons of doing EASA B1.1 compared to DCA A&C = More money spent, exams eventhough written only, no oral, is tougher in a certain way compared to DCA, plus you will end up studying more than DCA A&C syllabus, but upon conversion to DCA LWTR you only get A&C. Cost of EASA License also quite expensive, about RM1300 for 5 years, and it increases every year. DCA LWTR renewal only RM50 for 2 years.

Even though there seems to be more cons in doing EASA, I would personally do EASA as I find most who do DCA take an extremely long time, and is very frustrating especially when you don't know when your oral exam will be, so makes it difficult to plan your studies.
Don't forget the $$$ part though, EASA costs more!

It's all up to you...
