Which one to choose? NUC or MIAT

Postby param100 » Mon Jan 11, 2010 3:04 pm

Which uni should I choose between NUC and MIAT? Heard that NUC have less equipments compare to MIAT. NUC fee is RM40K and MIAT is RM30K. Both have EASA right? Which one have better job offer?

MIAT's EASA programme is RM80K.
MIAT also have LWTR programme which is DCA approved as MIAT is an Approved Training Organisation, the first in Malaysia.
NUC is conducting EASA prgramme.
All the industry is concerned is that you have the appropriate license. If you want to work in Malaysia, you need DCA's license. In Europe you definitely need EASA.
Looking at your question, looks like you haven't a clue about licensing system.

I was at the last weekend education fair in KLCC. I visited NUC booth and got some info on their AME program. The cost of NUC diploma is RM26K+ and EASA licence is RM 13K+ for a total of RM40K. 3 years, including OJT for the diploma and EASA 13 modules. After that work for 5 years before we can get EASA licence. Was informed that we can convert the EASA licence by sitting some exams with DCA.

For MIAT EASA 80K? WOW. RM30K is without EASA. So, which uni to choose? A uni where it will be easier to get a job after completing the 3 years including OJT.

My only concern with NUC is that, where would you be getting the 5 years experience, since you do not have a license to work on the aircraft. I am not aware IF there are arrangements between NUC and airlines for OJT/job placements.
MARA I know have some arrangements with MAS, which is a Part 145 organisation.

EASA license conversion require you to sit for airlegislation paper, thats all! ;)

Is it save to say we just forget about NUC and go with MIAT? At lease we will have some job security as they have connection with MAS.

By 2015 there would be '16000' positions in the aviation industry (figure from Gov.of Malaysia), regardless, there would certainly positions to filled. Just make sure you're in position to fill the vacancies when the time come.. Thats basically 5 years from now..
If I were in your position, I will simply make sure I have a TYPE RATED license by then!

Your choice param. I have made mine!

well, the time for you to get type rated is still far away... so jz focus on the LWTR or EASA first... type rated.. put it aside first

Just a short question... how can we get type rated after getting our LWTR besides joining our local airlines?
Are there any type rating courses offered by any companies/institutions around here?

Wow, torx~ from where you got the 16000 figures? Another closed-door ministry discussion and analysis? :><.:

Seem like nikermike was right, because too much of eating and sleeping, they are dreaming a lots too~ 16k jobs is like setting up another yearly losing mas in the country.
Not to mention the number of passengers we need to sustain, but also the the number of aircraft is needed. OMG, 5 years? to get the facilities up, get the planes ready...
"4 mini, malam-malam bikin pun tak sempat lar bro~" wahahaha :><.:
