Hey, guys

General Aviation in Malaysia is actualy BIGGER than you can imagine....if ONLY you know how much this old chap 'F' income every month by signing CRS for GA operators in Subang.....I bet you will not even think about joining airlines.

Go for GA guys..you will love it !!!! :)

Did a search for General Aviation on the forum - nil joy on an exclusive thread re GA.
So advance apologies for 'tumpanging' on APR's thread.

Just wanted to ask...considering there is good support for the GA environment here I've read thus far.
Did anyone take a drive up(or down for some) to the Ulu Bernam Fly-In last weekend(12th June) ?

Greetings ninermike...by any chance is 'F' referencing FC(personnel's name) of currently HF(mx outfit) ?
Excuse my coded vagueness, just threading carefully initially. I've been away from the aviation scene after a slight diversion of 2years with the O&G sector. Can't stay away from them "flying tin cans" lah; gotta make a comeback ;)

I think GA LAEs get paid a lot because there are so few of them and it's basically simple 'economics' - demand more than supply, charge more!
Just think about it - how many people do you know who are going for Aeroplanes 1 & piston engines compared to Aeroplanes 2 & turbine engines???

However, just a speculation - GA LAEs have so much of work - they not only have to maintain aircraft, they have to handle DCA too (C of A renewal, registration of newly bought aircraft, audits etc etc).
They have so much of work that their actual work (maintenance of aircraft) is basically just signing the CRS, the mechs do all the work.
I could be wrong, but this is what I can gather is happening.

Shumway,
you're quite right there. In GA, it's a one man show. You take care of 'everything' engineering related.. :^^:

I had joined this course last year before. Actually is good for the guy who just start to involve in aviation industry. The course consists of basic engineering for workshop, basic electrical, basic aircraft structure and also for the basic air law. Price is around RM 1750 that time. Will study on Monday , Wednesday and Saturday. Mon and Wed is from 6.30pm to 8.30pm and Sat is from 9am to 5pm. All instructors are former LAME or existing LAME.
