Category B1 or B2

Postby hush4hire » Mon Jun 13, 2011 2:48 am

After i finished my B1, i heard some grapevine about the industry need B2 personnel more than B1, is it true? And some says the salary will be more than B1.

today, i go to airasia to meet with a technician. He is also a candidate of part 66, and he is taking b2. he told me that b2 is more demanding than b1.

Any comment?

In AirAsia, there's about 2 avionics engineer per night shift and about 40 aircrafts every night. Go figure.. :><:

The answer would be YES and NO. YES; for the time being as insufficient Avionics engineers are acute. NO, because: once the DCAM Part 66 matures: the need for B1 would be more as the Electrical Part of B1 became more acceptable. Thus; it might ends up that both B1 and B2 engineers salaries are about the same.

My 10 cents worth.

Basically I can safely say it's the same elsewhere, ie shortages.

so does this mean that the Part-66 Cat B1 holder will have ACE trades on their LWTR?
UPON MY HONOR I swear that I shall hold in sacred trust the rights and privileges conferred upon me as a qualified aircraft maintenance engineer/technician.

The Cat. B1 is equivalent to trades A,C & E but obviously B2 has more 'depth' than B1's E.. There are 'restrictions' imposed. Read the syllabus for details.
