UNIVERSITY OF GLAMORGAN - Bsc(Hons) Aircraft Maintenance Eng

Postby ninermike » Tue May 31, 2011 7:23 pm

Hi...y'all,

I have received numerous 'nice' stories in regards to University Glamorgan - Bsc(Hons) Aircraft Maintenance Engineering + EASA Part 66 licence programme grads.

refer link : http://courses.glam.ac.uk/courses/588-b ... ngineering

refer link : http://fat.glam.ac.uk/subjects/engineer ... s/tunchit/ (a testimony from a Malaysian student)

I was told that >40 ex MIAT Diploma holders went to continue their studies at Glamorgan and will be coming back with a DEGREE this coming July. (well done, guys!! How lovely.......isn't it dear? :p )

But what is the status of their 'GLOBALLY' recognised EASA Part 66 licence ??? Ermm...kind of 'blur' though... :( :( anyone can share stories here of what actually happened there?

Cheerios..9M

a Degree isnt necessary for those wishing to become licenced aircraft engineers as its only for those seeking Managerial posts later in their careers.

If a person undergoes a Category B Approved Course they need to show 2 years work experience in order to satisfy license requirements, if they study as a self improver/modular on an unapproved route it becomes 5 years work experience before they can apply for their license.

I'm based in the UK, would rather not go in to all my background though as I prefer anonymity :)

There are a number of EASA Approved Training organisations these days, I would also point out there is not a 'right' place for part 66 as this really is a personal preference in my opinion and as every organisation is audited by the same authorities then they should all be singing off the same hymn sheet for the training and quality of the couses offered.

A list of the Approved UK Organisations and Approval Categories can be found http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/177/srg_lts_ApprovedBasicTrainingOrg_Doc70v65.pdf.
