Questions.

Postby aaron9316 » Sun May 01, 2011 12:23 am

Hello,I have been reading countless threads here for the past few days to broaden my knowledge on the world of aviation. But there are still some things that is confused up there.I need to ask a few questions just for clarification(i dont fully understand them)

1.whats the difference between LAME and LAE?
2.Is this route correct?.Politeknik(example) > TJT > LAME or LAE?
3.When working as a TJT,what parts of the a/c can you work on?it depends on what license you have i assume?

Thanks in advance,
Aaron :^^:

Hi Aaron... i understand how difficult it is for you to grasp right. I can explain a little bit for you...just a brief one.

1. LAME and LAE is similar- with regards to their work scope. LAME will turn to LAE after you removed the letter 'M'. :)
Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer. Because they are 'certifying personnel', regulations require them to acquire a licence without type rating (LWTR) or we also call it as Aircraft Maintenance Engineers' Licence (AMEL) and type rating courses. LWTR/ AMEL is a basic licence and also serves as a pre-requisite to...becoming a LAE.

2. I leave this answer to anyone else. :)
3. Let anyone else answer this :)

Lets not get confused.
TJT is a 2 year programme that leads you to be a JT.
Then after a certain (long)time period, you may be promoted to a FULL Technician.

There is a 'bridge' to cross to a position of LAE (LAME Grade). This is interms of acquiring of the Part 66 AML(Engineer) and promotion to LAME Grade after passing the Company's Procedures Oral examination and attending(and passing) a type rated course. I think I have repeated this over and over and over exhaustively. :^^:

There is NO LICENSE involved with regards to working as a TJT. Only whether you're a 'mechanical' or 'avionics' trade.

Anyone want to give further inputs on this?

Dear Aaron9316,

Torx has actually answered both question 2 & 3.

My version.

2. NO
3. All parts of aircraft. NO licence required.

Technically speaking; this is a repeat to your post under regarding aircraft maintenance. I've advised you to see and talk to APR on Friday 29th April posting.

I believe you have sufficient info to proceed and start asking questions with the ATO people in person because i believe your main intention currently is to shop for the best deal.

It's like buying a book; it would be different buying online than to go to a bookstore.
