As I know, you need 1500 hours to get your ATPL to be unfrozen... :o.o:

You need at least a minimum of 1500 hours to "un-freeze" your ATPL and must be 21 years of age.
You Can't unfreeze your ATPL alone on a single engine for example on a Piper Warrior since it requires 500 hours multi-crew turbine time and a few other items you're not likely to get in a warrior but Becoming an AFI does give you a certain amount of hours prior to becoming a FO.

Cheers!

I just went to DCA and saw MFA ads about AFI course..
after u finish u will work with MFA for certain years n have alot of exp try moved to airlines..
It will be an advantage i think if u have a AFI license ;) xspecially when u can sign a student for a solo flight..

Can AFI do that? I thought that is only for FI? GGIFA's instructor is seriously well paid and if I'm not mistaken they only bond you for two years. Anyone can clarify this? But one thing for sure. After Mitollo's explanation I certainly think taking up AFI is worth it

Yes, The AFI's in GGIFA takes home RM6000.00 basic and RM60.00 per hour. They can roughly take home around 8 to 9k per month.

The reason i said only 200hrs to unfreeze yr atpl is bcos tats my remaining hrs to 1.5k and a group c endorsement..U dun need 500 turbine hrs and all u need is group c endorsement/a320 rating.....Correct me if im wrong...

Yup afi can clear 2nd solo not 1st solo...Fi 1st solo and the pay scale oso different.....Many of my frenz graduated 1 year ago and jobless..
They just refuse to take up afi course,i dunno why???rather sit at home????if their from a loaded family then continue to sit at home....For me im not a time waster, time is money and opportunity......Get more money, get more flying hours....Then only approach airlines when the time is rite....

For sure the airlines will take u,bcos ur asking the same pay tat a young 200 hrs freshie asking.....Think a bout it by 2 yrs u should have clock 1500hrs or more.....If ur the interviewer who would u take????The answ is clear cut oledi...... ::D:

Where else for freshie, 1year plus......
See the advantage as a flt instructor....
My 2cents advice....
Good luck guyz

There's no automatic promotion to F/O. Need to pass an exam, and also an interview with the management pilots.

WOAH......... hang on there........
As far as aviation is concerned, nothing is SURE.

In AK, especially under the new management, a lot of them couldn't make it pass the interview.....
Don't think that "It's a walk in the park" , if you don't know your stuff, having 1000 hours makes no difference...
Joining AK now ,under the new management, it not as easy as it seems. Many of them failed the interview, and WERE NOT GIVEN A SECOND CHANCE.

Keep this in mind.
if you think being an AFI for 2 years will gurantee you a spot in airlines, let me tell you it won't.
