Agreed with you coriolis.

I am not saying that Malaysian airline pilots are short cut pilots. Of course there will be some form of training to bridge the gap between flying piston twin engines to turnbine twin engines on aircraft that is bigger & heavier by many many times.

If I were running a country like the US & there is such a huge GA presence there & every fresh graduate wants to grab an airline job, there will be no one flying crop dusters...

I guess that's why the US is different in this sense - not that they want to make sure all their pilots are very experienced before they take control of an airliner (though indirectly it does) but to take care of the "smaller" market...
