Answer to SkyVS questions:-

1. Yes.. As the ATCO (DCA) is a agency under Ministry of Transport.
2. Yup.. Each airlines have their own management..even firefly is under MAS supervision.. but in terms of flight operation (flight planning, scheduling & etc) they're separated.. but they still co-op each other in terms of general operation & management like code share, engineering and training..
3. Have no idea, but mostly they will count u'r SPM as a reference (i need to check this). My advice is to complete u'r Diploma, at least. This to ensure better position and better payout.. ::D: take my words.. go for Dip or better if Degree.

Hey.. this thread going so slow.. anybody from MAVA wanna share their experience??? :p

wayne,

regarding the question i asked, for question 2, what i meant is ATCO application for airlines(AK, Mas,...) is separated from SPA..? as in apply for ATCO position in the respective airlines itself.. like erm, applying for AirAsia ATC/MAS ATC/etc...

for question 1 & 3: cleared, thanks ::D:

p.s: shud i formed another thread for this? sry if i posted in wrong thread.. I'm not so clear on where to ask this as it's been long time i'm not on flylah course :p

haha, better view for me.. there are only 2 group of ATCO in Malaysia if not mistaken.. Civil (DCA) & Millitary (RMAF).. but ex-ATCO still can joint other field related to Flight Operation such as Flight Planning, Ground Crew, Safety Officer & etc.. ::D:

m.. ATC & AATCO?

ATCO = Air Traffic Control Officer - for aerodrome with a airport facilities such as CIQ and etc
AATCO = Advisory Air Traffic Control Officer - aerodrome with a airport that below some facilities.sometimes call airstrip or padang terbang. Airport with AATCO like tioman, mulu & lawas.

AATCO provide advisory service and not positive control, mean that they cannot clear acft to land or take-off. they just advise bout traffic and essential information. phraseology should be something like this:- MSWXXXX advise runway clear, wind 230/7knots. (No positive instruction given to pilot for landing). Pilot land at their own risk.. not the controller.. :p
