My question:

1. What is work pattern of ATC. I means shift from what time to what time. How many days work and how many days rest.
2. Can get cuti raya?
3. They provide the quarters for ATC?

thanks..

My answer :
1. At melaka u'll work for 7 hrs for 1 cycle. For every 6 cycle, u'll get 1 off days. Sunday n public doesn't count. if u want a leave on particular days, have to req in adv.
- at any airfield which not operate 24H, Shift pattern about the same xcept last afternoon person have to stay for last flight (OT).
-at any 24H station (klia n subang centre), shift patern is simplified like this:
1st day : 1pm - 7pm
2nd day : 7am - 1pm rest 7pm - 7am (next morning)
3rd day : Off day

2. cuti raya: have to take turn... myself will work on 2nd raya eve for this year.

3. Quaters available in some in most of station.
for sure, no quaters at subang and melaka.

Ur looking to be an atc uh?

Actually I already get this offer. just waiting for the letter.

Melaka also got atc?
I thought atc only work at KLIA, Srwk or Sabah.

is that means after training, dca will send the candidate to all state in M'sia?

All airports have ATCs, otherwise who's gonna control the air traffic?

I wouldn't agree with what you said.
There are controlled and uncontrolled airfields.

Controlled which mean with ATC and Uncontrolled is without ATC.
In controlled airfields you must report to the ATC before you enter the airspace or the airfield.
In uncontrolled airfields you must switch to a fixed frequency and transmit over there says you gonna to land or do a touch and go on the airfield so if there is some other aircraft which heading / near to the airfield will hear to you and looking out for you.

aLgu... most of the aerodromes in Malaysia have ATC which are controlled airfield...

Ahmad.Gorgom correct me if I'm wrong... thank you^^

Hi ahmad,

Nice to hear from a senior ATC :)
I need to ask some questions..maybe it sound dull to you, but I do need to know your opinion.
How do you prepare your mental and physical for this job? because I do heard the training, practical and doing the job itself are very stressful. How do you cope?
I know all about the training, working environment(even though you have to work during season holidays) but still I want to be a ATC, weired huh?and I knew all about this before the 2nd interview. Luckly, my 2nd interview was at Subang, so I got a peak at ATC office and pantry and also rest room(for the ATC to take nap before the near next cycle). I also got a chance borak2 with A29,A41 and A44. The A44 said that his working hours is normal means back to office hours. They all did gave good advices like to watch more Air Crash Investigation, study about the clouds and weather and constantly brush up English language. They said, when in control room, there is no rank. All are equal, carrying the same burden and cooperation is a must.
So how long have you been as ATC? :p
