I don't think both have a big difference. ATC in miltary also have a licence/rating like us.
they've been checked and licenced by DCA. maybe they more to tactical.
Like penang, approach is being control by Butterworth (military) and TWR by DCA.
Radar I'm not sure..... I heard they have a moveable/ tactical radar other than civillian radar.
Maybe they use a civilian radar for the purpose of monitoring/prevention only.

For sure, military has a lot of cool tactical RT which civilian pilot doesn't practice............

1. you can choose or ask anytime ... but final say will not be yours.
2. (i assume u apply on diploma and ur pursuing degree right now)
Hard to say..... it's posibble but not likely i can say. DCA has own pre-requisite on this.
you have to obtain area procedural rating before you can be considered for A41. yes u have ur degree.... but to have that rating... has to have training from DCA college.... to have training u have to queue on seniority.
anyhow, as ATC, there's no such thing as Ceiling. Maybe you apply on diploma, but there's a huge opportunity for u to retired as A41, 44 or who knows JUSA as well.

1. I don't think so. but as ATC, maybe u will get xtra credit if u applying cadet pilot with MAS or PDRM .
(i believe). u have to quit DCA first if u want to work as pilot elsewhere.

2. Of course. ATC licence is recognize by ICAO (Int. Civil Aviation ORG).

3. Sorry, no idea. 2~3 years ago i saw ad. on Star loking an ATC at timor2.......

i Can't remember any contract or bond period................. U can resign anytime on 3 month notice.
I suggest u stop thinking as such for time being. Get into dept. first, get your licence.
If u can do live traffic, then go for it.....
if ur sweating doing 3 aircraft.... forget about it.
Doing traffic is not clerical job. It's individual capabilities......

When DCA head had advised someone to continue degree in other field instead of atc. what does this mean? A failure in oral test? Can the applicant have chance to hope for an interview ? Pls advise. TQ

basically how trainees are evaluated? ratings? what i heard, trainee will get rating for more than 3 aircraft injected during radar control test?

-i don't have much Experience. only 6 years in Dept.
but i think all controller will agree most stressful position is approach.

- as trainee, u don't have any rating yet. I believe their looking for calm character. Person who can remain calm in any situation, fast thinking and problem solver.
doesn't matter how many aircraft injected or or any emergency situation given. u are to remain calm and do your job.... Myself during final... i got 1 injected aircraft only...
if i got 3.... haiya... kerja kilang la aku....
up to check officer i think....
1 is mandatory for sure.....

U will have a long training period, and believe me... their will watch you individual attitude as well.....
