Ur right honey bear....
let me clarifies further.

control airfield : usually airfield are confined with specified/designated airspace
which called CTR (Control zone).

But there's other airfield like WMBT (tioman) which not confined with CTR. Tioman having Air Traffic Advisory Service Airspace (ATZ)instead.
pst : pls refer to AIP ENR 1.1-7 for further clarification for both...:)

Unattended airfied : airfield like WMPR (pulau Redang), presence of MAB (terminal & emergency services) but no control tower. Movement controlled by nearby tower (K.T in this example)

uncontrol airfield : mostly grasstrip and private airfield..... no TWR or any other service......

Good discussion topic...... :)

WMKM is ICAO four letter code for Batu Berendam Airport (Malacca Airport)

give you few other examples...

WMKK = KLIA
WMSA = Subang Airport
WMKJ = Senai Airport (Johor)
WMKP = Penang Aiport

there are 2 types of code... one is IATA 3 letters code and ICAO 4 letters code

example of IATA

MKZ = Batu Berendam Airport (Malacca)
PEN = Penang Airport
KUL = KLIA
SZB = Subang Airport

[quote="atc"]Hi ahmad,

Nice to hear from a senior ATC :)
I need to ask some questions..maybe it sound dull to you, but I do need to know your opinion.
How do you prepare your mental and physical for this job? because I do heard the training, practical and doing the job itself are very stressful. How do you cope?
I know all about the training, working environment(even though you have to work during season holidays) but still I want to be a ATC, weired huh?and I knew all about this before the 2nd interview. Luckly, my 2nd interview was at Subang, so I got a peak at ATC office and pantry and also rest room(for the ATC to take nap before the near next cycle). I also got a chance borak2 with A29,A41 and A44. The A44 said that his working hours is normal means back to office hours. They all did gave good advices like to watch more Air Crash Investigation, study about the clouds and weather and constantly brush up English language. They said, when in control room, there is no rank. All are equal, carrying the same burden and cooperation is a must.
So how long have you been as ATC? :p

preparation : can't remember any.. myself preparation for ATC is quitting my old job (Kerja Kilang).
Yes the training is kind of stress... it's individual.
I can say ATC is a hell of job to do..... (it's individual again).
Why ? because all people will call u sir. (in RT). I've have controlled a person titled T.SRI, and he called me sir....... where can u find that in any work?..... hahahaha...
i greet SUltan JOhor Also....
Ive been practicing ATC for almost 6 years.... not much exp. la...
and i felt this forum title is too much for me...
to teddy... i suggest;
this forum better be titled as "WMKM practicing controller'' instead.....

Is it means after having training in sepang for 1 -1.5 yr, we will have the possibilities to work at any airport in M'sia?

I thought ATC only can work at KLIA, Sabah n Srawak only because when I checked dca website, only can see this 3 place...

TQ HONEY BEAR.....
1 more favour.... dont call me sir in here.....
to Algu:
working posn will depend on your grade:

ex : Grade A41 ( degree intake) :they will be trained to be sector controller (doing Radar control and see blip only) and will be sitting in front of radar display instead of working on tower. if ur apply for this grade... this will ur working environment and will be stationed at 3 particular places you mentioned before.

Grade A29 : they will be trained to be Aerodrome controller (working at control tower).
If u applied for this grade, u will attach at various control tower in malaysia.

hope u can understand.....
