Not an interview immediately, but you will have to go through a series of tests first. I think there's 2 stages of tests and then only the final interview. Correct me if I'm wrong. Go through the forum for more info..

Actually, MAS doesn't "fully sponsor" their cadets. Yes, they pay for your training and type rating, but you have to pay them back when you start working, on top of the 15 years bond. The financing of your training in MAS part is internal, whereas Airasia uses Maybank. Even for a SIA cadet, they have to pay the company back once they go online. There is no such thing as a free lunch.

As far as I know, MAS cadets will start paying back when they go online as second officers and continue to pay back MAS for the next 15 years. Brother m732 probably can elaborate on this and give you some details.

I think you got everything right. No need for me to it explain further. :)

sweeking, welcome to FlyLah. Like what everyone said, try browsing through all the previous posts on MAS Cadet Pilot in this forum, it should give you a brief idea on how things work.

As far as MH/AK is concerned. The advantage of having anything higher then SPM is almost negligible.

I don't plan to dash anyone's hope but it seems MH will no longer have the cadet pilot programme for at least a couple of years. They are only taking in direct entry cadets with CPL/IR and frozen ATPL at the moment.

No idea about AK, to answer your question you have to keep an eye for openings in the newspaper and their website all the time.

If the times are good intakes can be as massive as half a dozen batches a year. Like what MH, AK and SQ did back during the 2005-2008 aviation boom. Times are bad now for the aviation scene, you see airlines reporting lower profits while some declaring heavy losses.

Dont worry my friend, AK is expanding rapidly, expect openings every year. There were 3 batches this year alone(Feb, Jun,Oct) They planned to have another 4th opening for last month, however due to circumstances, aborted the plan. Also, there's Cathay and SIA. Fret not =)
