License Conversion Confuse!! SOMEBODY HELP ME!

Postby bubu » Tue Feb 09, 2010 7:05 am

I am currently undergoing a PPL,CPL,IR and ME program in a flight school in Canada. I have got 5A's in my SPM. And I got A1 for my english,A2 for math and C5 for my add math. Unfortunately I only scored a D7 for my physics. The question is,if I already acquired a Canadian CPL license, will I be able to convert it to Malaysian license or I still need my SPM or some other degree?
And another question is,when I already got my CPL license, and I undergo this Airbus rating program either in Clark Aviation,Philippines or Toulouse,France,or any where that offers the program maybe in USA. Will I be able to convert it and have a chance to get hired? I am really confuse with this and I hope you could give me an honest opinion so I can plan my next step without wasting too much money. Please reply me at my email,fidoquik@yahoo.com.
I really am hoping that you could help me with this questions. Thank you very much

Hi,
1st probably ur MECIR hours wont be count unless u have i think certain hours on that,i mean like 100++..
So tat wasted..
U need to go for a abridge course and resit all paper i guess, i assume that u under FAA license..
They still rely on ur SPM even though u have complete fresh license like u..
Or u can only validate ur license for 6month and find a job in Malaysia n collect 500hrs then they will let u convert to malaysian license without looking at ur SPM..

Correct me if any particular information is wrong..

And about AK i think u MUST have a Malaysian DCA license for Malaysian to apply for a F/O position unless u have the hours tat u can rely on..

DCA has an existing policy for converting foreign (ICAO contracting states) professional licence (ATPL & CPL) to Malaysian Licence. The conversion only acceptable when the candidate has met the minimum academic qualification which is 5 credits at SPM level or equivalent inclusive of credit in Mathematics, English and a Sciences subjects. Bubu, you said you've got D7 for Physic? What about your other Science subjects? As long as you have 5 credits in SPM -> Maths, English, 1 Science subject and 2 more credits in whatever other subject that you took. What ever it is...u will need to write a formal letter to CAPT. DATO’ YAHAYA BIN ABDUL RAHMAN,Director of Flight Operations,
Department of Civil Aviation. He will then issue u a reply letter. If he said you didnt meet the requirement based on your SPM, then you can send a second letter to appeal. Good Luck! I think you can get it ;) They will also count your Canadian CPL (Multi-IFR).

I have a question about conversion. It say in MFA perpectus, that their ATPL course min requirement, CPL/IR holder from any ICAO countries. So does that mean if i have a ICAO CPL/ME+IR, i can take this course and get a Malaysia Frozen ATPL straight? What about DCA rules say for a conversion min 35hrs on a ME flight training in msia.
So what kinda ATPL course is MFA trying to offer foreign license holder for. Is it just a trick?
Coz i've email MFA, and they only reply me telling me that they offer conversion course which will cost me RM100K++ period.
Why would someone willing to pay that amount to convert to malaysia license? Why not look for jobs in other countries and earn UK pound, USD, AUD, SGD.

Nah,your ME and IR hours won't recognized by DCA.You have to do the 35 hours still!
MFA offer the conversion right now?weird, cuz been trying to get into it and they told me is full at the moment.
