Setting up a 'Roti John' stall with 'DBKL + MPL' licences hanged on it would be brilliant ...... ::D:

If I'm not mistaken, to go for MPL you have to be employed / cadet of the airline, because it is a custom made training based on airline. If upon completion of training & you become the co-pilot for that airline which sponsored you, you can't run to another airline that did not have the MPL license program, because you are a MPL license holder. You can only work for another airline as copilot which "recognises" MPL.

CPL/ATPL course teach you how to fly single engine & twin engine piston aircraft including flying on instruments. That's the basics of flying.

MPL course teach you how to fly multi crew airliners as co-pilot.

Thanks Konzen17, nice to see that people agree with what I say... doesn't happen very often :)

Anyway, in my opinion, I'm not saying that MPL is no good. Reading up on incidents that are happening today, especially research by FAA, it looks like most pilots of large airliners have lost touch with basics of flying, incidents like the Colgan Air crash at Bufallo, where the crew stalled the aircraft, but worst of all, their reaction caused the aircraft to stall further.

Also, look at the "heroic" saves made by pilots of large airliners, like the landing of the 767 & A330 that ran out of fuel. If I'm not mistaken, both the pilots are active GA pilots, & used their basic skills in the situation to save the aircraft & all occupants.

If MPL can teach co-pilots how to manage modern aircraft & also basic airmanship, don't see much problems there, I think.

It's quite a gray area basically... Someone who has not flown an airliner & intorduced to an Airbus has no problems adjusting to so much automation, but someone who has flown Boeings as far as I know always takes more time to adjust to Airbus, some even don't agree with Airbus philosophy....

Thanks for sharing your insights, Shumway..
At times bcoz for cutting costs and time,
the price to pay for is far too costly instead,
especially in aviation business....it sure makes differences...
"back to bais" is still always being emphasized so often. :)
